Prime Minister confirms General Election date
Today (22nd May) the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced, in a statement outside 10 Downing Street, that a UK General Election will take place on Thursday 4th July.
Sunak said ‘“Earlier today I spoke with His Majesty the King to request the dissolution of Parliament. The King has granted this request and we will have a general election on July 4.”
It will be the first vote where Scottish voters will have to show ID.
