SGF Mini Summit 2024 to feature expert ‘Women in Retail’ panel and much more
The Scottish Grocers’ Federation’s annual Mini-Summit will bring together industry experts, retailers and panellists to debate a range of priority topics for the sector. Doors open from 8.30am today (11th June) at the Macdonald Inchyra Hotel, Falkirk.
Sessions include ‘Women in Retail’, ‘The 3 E’S Energy/Efficiency/Environment’ and a ‘Policy Matters’ discussion on key issues impacting convenience retail in Scotland. Covering areas such as the burden of regulation on small businesses, Minimum Unit Pricing, the National Living Wage and potential restrictions on alcohol marketing, vaping products and less healthy foods.
Retailers and delegates will benefit from having direct access to leading spokespersons and industry experts, providing the most up-to-date information on each topic.
SGF Chief Executive Dr Pete Cheema OBE said: “We are delighted to host colleagues from all over Scotland at the wonderful Macdonald Inchyra, for our annual Mini-Summit 2024.
“Convenience retail is a fantastic sector for women to succeed in. Our excellent panellists, for our first session, have a wealth of experience and essential knowledge to share about their journey in retail. Inspiring many others to join our dynamic sector.
“Moreover, the cumulative pressure of constant regulation both North and South of the border have created a significant burden for convenience retailers. It’s vital we take the time to discuss areas critical to the future of the sector. Not least the need to promote sustainability, energy efficiency and the protection of our natural environment.
“The past few years have seen a swathe of changes for our sector. Both external and internal factors, affecting the stability of the UK economy, how convenience retailers serve their communities, and the evolving nature of consumer behaviour. Our events are the very best way for retailers and industry leaders to stay on top of today’s issues and ensure they have all the latest information available.”
Following the conclusion of the Mini-Summit, SGF will host a General Election hustings with representatives from five major political parties, to take place from 1:10pm at the same location.
