Local Shops React to Scottish Draft Budget
Commenting on the Scottish Government’s draft budget for 2011-12, John Drummond, Chief Executive of the Scottish Grocers’ Federation (SGF) said;
“SGF welcomes the Scottish Government’s continued commitment to strengthening town centres.
“The retention of the Small Business Bonus Scheme will be welcomed by many small shops, providing them with additional resources to plough back into their businesses during these tough economic times.
“We will need to see detail of the business rate supplements for large retailers before being able to comment fully. However, I welcome measures which help to continue to develop a fairer rates system in which small shops do not lose out to the supermarkets.”
