Further COVID-19 Restrictions to Commence from 16th January 2021

The Scottish government announced further Covid-19 restrictions two of which should be noted below.

Takeaway services – The Scottish Government intend to apply restrictions to takeaway services. Customers will no longer be permitted to go inside to collect takeaway food or drinks. Any outlet wishing to offer takeaway services will have to do so from a serving hatch or doorway. The restrictions on takeaway services will not apply to convenience stores.

Click and collect services – The Scottish government intend to limit the availability and operation of click and collect services. Only retailers selling essential items will be allowed to offer this service. This will include for example clothes, footwear, baby equipment, homeware and books etc. All other click and collect services will stop. Click and collect services, where they are allowed, will need the use of staggered appointments to avoid any potential for queuing. Access inside premises for collection will not be permitted. Detailed regulations and guidance will be published shortly. Convenience stores however will be unaffected so can be continue to operate click and collect services as at present.
