Stuart Cooper, Banknote Engagement & Communications, Bank of England
Stuart leads the Bank of England team responsible for communicating banknote news and information to businesses, the police and the public, as well as engagement with key industry sectors to enhance the Bank's understanding of the latest cash trends. One key focus of his work is the Banknote Checking Scheme, which promotes checking of Bank of England banknotes at point of sale through targeted training, to reduce the number of counterfeit notes being accepted and so avoid losses to businesses.
Stuart has worked at the Bank for more than 20 years in a variety of roles across the organisation, including managing the Chief Operating Officer unit for the Markets area, oversight of financial market infrastructure, customer banking (to the government and some international organisations), HR and monitoring the provision of finance to small, medium and large businesses.
