SGF Cross Party Group on Independent Convenience Stores - 17th Sept  (Retail Crime)

The next meeting of the SGF CPG will take place in Committee Room 3 of the Scottish Parliament at 6 PM on Tuesday, 17th September.

We are pleased to confirm three industry expert speakers, each addressing sub-sections of the critical issue of retail crime:

  • Douglas Meikle, Scottish Alcohol Industry Partnership: Douglas will discuss the 'It’ll Cost You' campaign, which raises awareness that purchasing alcohol for someone under 18 is a criminal offense, helping communities and retailers prevent this illegal activity.

  • TBC, Food Standards Scotland: FSS will share their expertise on the issue and impact of food crime in Scotland.

  • Natalie Lightfoot, Independent Retailer: Drawing from her own experience, Natalie will cover store security after closing, shop theft, abuse, and threatening behaviour in stores. She will also discuss the mental impact that retail crime has had on her.

Following the presentations, there will be a Q&A session where you can engage with our speakers and MSPs present.

Your attendance would be greatly appreciated for what promises to be an insightful discussion. We will meet in the Parliament foyer before proceeding to the event room.

Please email aidans@sgfscot.co.uk to confirm your attendance.
