Reminder: Allergen labelling regulations for food sold prepacked for direct sale

Retailers are now responsible for meeting the legal requirements for prepacked for direct sale (PPDS) food labelling.

As a result of regulations that came into force on 1st October 2021, any business that produces PPDS food is required to label it with the name of the food and a full ingredients list, with allergenic ingredients emphasised within the list.

If you want more information or are unsure of you responsibilities, SGF has published a handy retailers guide, Labelling Requirements for Prepacked Food for Direct Sale, and accompanying website - Get Labelled.

Get Labelled provides key advice on what you need to do to be compliant, and key information on important questions, such as what products fall under PPDS food, identifying Allergens and best practice for selling non-prepacked food.
