Protection of Workers (retail) Act: Latest info.

SGF has been gathering information on the Protection of Workers (retail) Act in order to keep our members updated:

  • 7,955 cases have been reported since August 2021 to September 2023.

  • Over 3,000 of which are Common or Serious Assaults.

  • There is a 61% detection rate (based on June figures).

  • 2,363 cases were referred to the Crown Office & Prosecutor Fiscal Service (based on July figures).

  • 81% prosecuted (based on July figures).

  • Conviction rates are unknown, but SGF have requested info on this from the Scottish Courts & Tribunals Service.
