First Minister John Swinney appoints new cabinet

On the 8th of May John Swinney MSP was officially sworn in as Scotland’s seventh First Minister. He has subsequently appointed a new Ministerial Cabinet.

Important appointments for the convenience sector include:

  • Kate Forbes MSP has been appointed deputy First Minister. She will also take on the Economy portfolio and responsibility for Gaelic.

  • Shona Robison MSP remains in Cabinet with responsibility for Finance and Local Government.

  • Angela Constance MSP remains Cabinet Secretary for Justice and Home Affairs.

  • Richard Lochhead MSP remains as the Minister for Business.

  • Ivan McKee MSP has been appointed Minister for Public Finance.

  • Siobhan Brown MSP remains Minister for Victims and Community Safety.

  • Tom Arthur MSP appointed as Minister for Employment and Investment.

  • Christina McKelvie MSP remains Minister for Drugs and Alcohol Policy.
